Original painting of African woman wearing a traditional abaya, commonly worn by northern Nigeria Muslim women.
This painting shows the joie de vivre of a young lady who is not constrained by her dress. She is free, happy and at peace with herself. It was inspired by a young lady on a hot day who had just made her purchases at a rural market (evidenced by the items in the black shopping bag). She has in her hands a sachet of water 'pure water' to quench her thirst. I was transfixed by her blissful face and the folds of her hijab. The peach colour of her dress just sings with her happiness.
